The impact of artificial intelligence on audit profession

There is an expectation that the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) will bring about profound changes in the current paradigm of the audit profession, ensuring better reliability and security in the analysis of financial statements. This paper reports the results of a questionnaire survey to ascertain the perceptions of certified auditors, from two Portuguese districts, regarding the impact of artificial intelligence on the audit profession. Findings reveal that the respondents believe that the profession's future depends on the implementation of AI, namely in the efficiency and effectiveness of audit procedures, sampling techniques, cost-benefit relationship and recognizing material distortions.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Financial Risk Analysis of Portuguese Textile and Tourism Companies

Textile and tourism sectors are two important industries in the Portuguese economy. However, its high exposure to both internal and international economic volatility make the companies operating in these economic sectors particularly vulnerable to economic crises, such as the ones which have been impacting Portugal and the European Union. The objective of this paper is to evaluate and understand the impact of size and age on the financial health of textile and tourism companies, measured by economic indices. An empirical based model is proposed. Its implications are derived and tested on a sample of 4061 Portuguese companies from textile and tourism sectors, during the period 2005-2009. The findings suggest that age has a major impact on the risk of failure, rather than size. Whereas the effect of age is generally positive regarding the financial health of the company, the effect of size is less clear and ultimately depends on the age of the company. Exploração de recursos vivos marinhos da costa portuguesa. Estudo de caso de pequenos tunídeos: merma ( Euthynnus alletteratus) e judeu (Auxis spp.)

However, in the last decades, the decrease of both activities has occurred, with a significant reduction in the number of fishermen and fishing fleet and a major reduction on the number of canning factories in activity, mainly due to the Common Fisheries Politics of EU. In this work, an analysis of the species which make up the food product that retains the case of Auxis spp. (Judeu) and Euthynnus alletteratus (Merma), captured on the Algarve coast and recovered through the process of appertised canning, in nearby Andaluzia, with the designation of "Melva de Andalucía". A sample of 128 individuals was analyzed, in terms of morphometric composition and feeding behavior. The analysis of capture volumes and selling prices variation, in harbor, from 1996 to 2010 was also performed. The assiduous presence of this species was verified, mainly in the summer months, mostly between July and September, when the surface water temperature is higher, although statistically it was not proven, showing similar population composition and feeding and reproductive behavior, in agreement with other authors Works, for the Mediterranean. A sensory evaluation to “Melva de Andalucía” with two other samples of appertised canned products commercialized in Portugal, of similar market segment was performed. AS DIRETRIZES CURRICULARES NACIONAIS E OS EIXOS DE FORMAÇÃO DA GRADUAÇÃO EM DIREITO: UM ESTUDO NOS DOCENTES DA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE SANTA CATARINA

Avaliação é uma ação que integra diversos processos e que encontrou na educação um campo privilegiado, não só em relação às práticas pedagógicas. O artigo tem por objetivo avaliar o eixo de formação fundamental, profissional e prático, no tocante a evolução do quantitativo de docentes efetivos e substitutos do Departamento de Direito da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. O parâmetro adotado são as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais da Graduação em Direito, nos termos da Resolução nº 09 CNE/CES, de 29 de setembro de 2004. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza descritiva, realizada por meio de dados bibliográficos e documentais que analisou os dados relativos às disciplinas lecionadas no Curso de Graduação em Direito da instituição nos semestres 2010.1 e 2017.1, identificando titulação e regime de trabalho dos dos docentes efetivos e substitutos. O ser consciente e onírico em "O sonho de um homem ridículo", de Dostoiévski

“O sonho de um homem ridículo” é uma narrativa fantástica do escritor russo Fiódor Mikhailovitch Dostoiévski, de 1877. Procura-se, neste artigo, mostrar as características que permeiam as ações do personagem principal, o narrador onipresente, sob o ponto de vista da formação e participação do ser no processo da narrativa fantástica, presente no sonho e fora do sonho do personagem. É um ser social em ambos os processos de citações? A ação onírica permeia a ação não onírica do personagem e assim faz contribuir para as suas mudanças como ser social, então? Há outras vozes que contribuem para isso? A essência do ser humano em torno do que seja a moral, a liberdade de pensamento em torno do bem e do mal; o suicídio como elemento de fuga diante da imagem do ridículo. Isso, na obra de Dostoiévski, nos leva à discussão em torno do conto “O sonho de um homem ridículo” como fonte para mostrar as nuances dialógicas em torno do pensamento freudiano descrito por Bakhtin. Pelas leituras em “Marxismo e Filosofia da Linguagem” e “Freudismo: um esboço crítico”, ambos de Michael Bakhtin, e a “Instituição Imaginária da Sociedade”, de Castoriadis, tem-se a base, neste artigo, para melhor refletir sobre essa composição literária e também política
